Nicola Tapper is a 28-year-old embroidery artist from Te Puna, Tauranga. 

What began as a creative outlet quickly became a way for her to slow down, reconnect with nature, and celebrate the remarkable species that call New Zealand home. Through carefully layered stitches, she aims to capture the texture, light, and personality of native birds, insects, and wildlife, bringing them to life one thread at a time. Each piece is entirely hand stitched, with a focus on realism, detail, and storytelling. She is drawn to the challenge of translating fleeting moments in nature into lasting works of textile art.
