Mel Brown - Love Fool, Christchurch
Mel was born and raised on the stunning West Coast of New Zealand's South Island, she grew up surrounded by vast and wildly beautiful natural landscapes. She spent much of her youth outdoors playing sport, riding horses and exploring the bush with her family.
Before jewellery, it was through cheffing that Mel discovered an outlet for her creativity. She left the hospitality industry to raise my two daughters, but over time, the urge to create again became strong.
She enrolled in a local silver smithing course, where she discovered that the
fabrication of metal, the vibrant and varied gemstones and the many design possibilities
excited her. Her love for jewellery design was born.
She enjoys adding colour to her designs either with beautiful gemstones, coloured silk cords, leather or with the beauty of resin enamel.
All of her pieces are designed and handmade in her Christchurch studio.
