Matthias Risse, Ruby Bay

Matthias H. Risse is a local photographer and technologist who has spent his career exploring the intersection of nature, technology, and human experience. Born in Germany in 1980, he spent his formative years in the local landscape. He has a deep appreciation for the natural world and its power to shape the human mind and spirit.

He studied art, photography, and information technology in Dresden, Bielefeld, and at the University of the Arts, London. He has been the recipient of numerous grants, including a project to Israel and Palestine in 2010, has been published internationally, and was shortlisted for the World Photography Awards in 2012 in the category Best Professional Landscape Photographer. His works are exhibited and collected internationally.

Extensive travel for his work in the past decades has led him to a deeper interest in the practice of meditation, in how our minds construct moments, and in the interconnectedness of all beings. Through his art he invites you to slow down, take a deep breath, and reconnect to your senses through the beauty and power of the world around us.
