This new suite of work explores the inherent potential of materials, embracing their natural qualities to allow the purest, most minimal forms to emerge. The creative process is marked by a preference for understatement and driven by a reverence for the materials themselves, allowing them to guide the process and reveal their most authentic expression.
Rather than imposing complex designs or unnecessary embellishments, the emphasis is placed on the subtle beauty of simplicity. The intention is to allow the materials to speak for themselves, highlighting the inherent harmony they can create when given their own voice.
Kylie is a contemporary jeweller based in Golden Bay, with a project driven practice spanning the last 13 years. With a background in photography and design, she graduated from art school in Auckland 2015, with an Advanced Diploma in Jewellery.
Her practice is informed by sensitivity to materials used, and creates objects that connects to the body on both physical and intellectual levels. Her work focusses on the socio-political landscape, sustainability of life systems and the psycho-spiritual realms.
