Vaune Mason

Vaune has been a mixed media jewellery maker since 2002. She completed her studies in 2005 at Whitireia Polytechnic in Porirua, Te Whanganui a Tara, Wellington.

Her work is eclectic and playful, and can contain hidden elements and surprises. Vaune sees herself as a storyteller and a maker. Currently based on Wellington’s Kapiti Coast in Ōtaki, Vaune is focusing on creating jewellery with a minimum of impact on her environment.

She combines recycled precious metals with found natural materials. Her work is shown at galleries across Aotearoa New Zealand including Pataka Toi Store, The Sarjeant Gallery, Quadrant Gallery and Mason & Collins in Wellington which is her own gallery run with her long-time friend and business partner Annie Collins.

Vaune is also a teacher of jewellery and making, and founded Workspace Studios in 2005 with Annie. She now teaches around the country and has the only New Zealand produced online jewellery classes.
