Angela Croft, Northland

Angela Croft first worked towards a degree in fine art Illustration, following this early education and 15 years in graphic design is now also asserting her desires within a fine arts career. The journey from graphic design has taken some technical skills sets into four years of creating a voice, style and media base.

Following her first solo exhibition in Tauranga, Angela looked to create specialist understandings to present to a larger audience with a very strong attitude to excellence in materials and delivery.

Angela has successfully transitioned to ‘tradigital art’, hand drawn/painted artworks using a digital drawing board as opposed to acrylics and brushes. This technical skill set and traditional training means that she can present into the Market place from her own studio which creates a very powerful leverage of device and narrative. Doggieology Art was the birthplace of her new unique art style and this grew out of Angela’s love of dogs, developing into a successful expression of breeds and commissioned one off works of clients' most precious furry friends. This unmistakable style she developed moved laterally into her general love of all living creatures.

The highly intriguing and humorous, while beautiful, ‘bird series’ celebrates her favourite species and a love of style and design as presented in the craft of furniture, wallpaper patternation and lighting states.

The birds are seen inside dwellings, to invite the viewer to create a very personal connection to creatures more at home in the wild.
