Ana Teofilo

Ana Teofilo - Dunedin

Ana Teofilo is a New Zealand-born artist of Samoan descent who has demonstrated
significant innovation within her artform, known for her intricate carving and
contemporary artistic techniques. Her creative process involves merging elements
of her Samoan heritage with Western influences to produce unique and vibrant
pieces of art.

She freehand carves directly onto shaped wooden boards of various sizes and forms.
She then embellishes these carvings with glue dots using an industrial hot glue gun,
creating an effect that enhances the interplay between sculptural form and intricate
detailing.

Ana completed her Masters in Visual Arts from the Dunedin School of Art at Otago
Polytechnic in 2015. She is represented by multiple galleries across New Zealand,
with her artworks held in private collections both internationally and within New
Zealand.
