Fi Ginivan, West Coast

Fi turns old, used mannequins into bright, colourful lamps. Her creations use combinations of colour and intricate pattern to give each mannequin a unique character of their own. Fi has always been interested in human form, modeling for life drawing classes before she decided to try drawing herself. Fi wants to help change societal views on what women should look like: “I get to show how beautiful the female body is. I hope to be able to work with curvy, fuller bodies in the future. I might have to create my own mannequins to do that.” Fi uses acrylic paint, mostly in the form of paint pens, then puts a layer of varnish on to protect the paint. “I love that I create both a work of art and something that has a practical, functioning aspect as well.”
