Julja Vogt - Māpua

Julia focuses her pottery practice on creating striking and functional stoneware pieces.

Inspired by the Tasman Sea each piece is finished with handmade glazes that Julja makes in her Māpua studio.

Originally from Germany, Julja completed her pottery apprenticeship in Munich and then worked as a potter in the Black forest and in France before she moved to New Zealand.

Stoneware pottery is made from specific clay and fired at high temperatures. The finished pieces are known to be robust and resistant to cracking and chipping. Stoneware retains heat and evenly distributes it evenly making them suitable for oven to table serving. All pieces are microwave, dishwasher and oven safe.
