Collection: Leah Firth
Leah Firth, Auckland
Leah designs and makes fine and demi-fine contemporary jewellery from her studio in Auckland.
The work has an organic feel which is largely process driven. The key method being cast-in-place.
This relatively new technique aligns with the brand ethos to 'go with the flow' and accept imperfection, misalignment, even decay (it's a Wabi-Sabi thing, look it up, it's super interesting).
From designing to mold making, preparation to casting, then finishing. It's a time honoured metal smithing affair with a fresh new twist.
WHO WOULD LIKE THIS KIND OF JEWELLERY?
Well we imagine that it would be a curious type of person. One that embraces the uncertainness of life. They push their comfort zones. Are open-minded and non-traditional.
They like to explore and show that they're beyond societal judgement by wearing/doing what they like.
The fact that this jewellery doesn't conform either (i.e. textures and tool marks are not sanded clean, organic curves are celebrated, unevenness is encouraged) is a huge plus.
Not your atypical jewelry for a quirky individual who's just a wee bit offbeat.
