Drilled 'Hairings' by Jacquie Fee as part of the NJW exhibition 'Up and Out'
Human hair, 925 sterling silver
This series of ‘Hairings’ was inspired by her love of hair extensions and the themes she associates with hair such as illusion, protection and image. Hair is used to attract, to protect to conceal. It’s used to attract partners, teased and straightened, curled and plaited, coloured and extended.
These works presented are the first in an exploration of human hair, this one being illusion and whimsy. They adorn and elongate your own natural hair. they can be curled and straightened. Washed and dried, conditioned dyed and brushed, tapered and cut.
Worn on the earlobes they create the perceiver to do a double take, to question and doubt. Is that hair? Who’s hair is it?
They create joy and wonder and Jacquie is excited to share and develop them.
