Sally Reynolds

Sally started painting in 2005 when she moved back to Brightwater with her family. This move was like a homecoming, after being away from Tasman for half her life. In late 2011 we moved to Mahana, where she enjoys the luxury of having a dedicated studio space.

Her paintings are intuitive, abstract landscapes created using either oils with cold wax medium or acrylics. As she paints she lets each painting develop, trying not to influence the outcome, but rather letting each painting find its own voice.

Sally is inspired by the landscape and her emotional response to it. She finds inspiration in every day places; the coast, plains, the view of the mountains and hills.  Her paintings are based on memories of these places and her concern for preserving the natural environment.
