Divided geographically, the photographed areas include: North: Bay of Islands to the Cape, down to 90-mile beach and Hokianga. East: from the Bay of Islands to Napier, including the outer Hauraki Gulf and islands, White Island.
Central: Wellington, Marlborough, Nelson and Tasman District.
West: west coast of the South Island to the North Island’s west coast.
South: South Island, including all of the southern east coast, Stewart Island, Fiordland.
Darryl Torckler is an internationally award-winning natural history photographer who has been taking photographs in and around New Zealand’s seas for over 45 years. His photographs have been widely published internationally in advertisements, magazines, and books. As well as writing, Gillian Torckler is a medical scientist and professor based at the Otago Medical School in Dunedin. Gillian and Darryl have created 15 books for both adults and children and many feature New Zealand’s coastal and underwater environments. They spend as much time as possible on their boat exploring the coastlines and islands that surround New Zealand.
